Cheeky is New Zealand’s first hard iced tea brand. After living in Canada, where hard iced tea is a popular alcoholic beverage, Cheeky founders Brendan and Olivier identified the absence of these in the non-carbonated RTD’s category in New Zealand market. They put one and one together and pitched a business case at the Audacious Business Awards in 2020 which they won. Just like that, Cheeky was born.
Cheeky approached us early on to design their brand identity, packaging and advertising. With a name like Cheeky, how could we resist?
Brendan and Olivier had a clear vision of the brand they wanted to build. We were challenged to create an identity that would appeal to a diverse audience while standing out visually and thematically in the oversaturated alcoholic beverage market.
The result is a cut-through brand packed with personality which embraces the bold characteristics of its name.
A crisp and fresh colour palette accompanied by witty messaging create an eye-catching shelf presence, helping differentiate Cheeky from other beverages.
Launching the first product of its kind in the New Zealand market meant the brand had to not only stand out but also educate their future audience. We produced a variety of brand visuals and messages for Cheeky to use in advertising and across their social channels.
After their trial batch sold like hot cakes, Cheeky was officially launched during O-Week in Dunedin crowning The King of Castle St.
