Mamacita Taquería is a fresh eatery that aims to bring the beauty, vibrancy, and flavours of Mexico to Dunedin. We worked closely with Mamacita Taquería to design their brand identity and restaurant space. We wanted to avoid the usual tired clichés commonly associated with Mexican restaurants, and instead embraced our interpretation of Mexican aesthetic.

The brand identity features a rich and feminine colour palette, and a combination of typefaces inspired by the popular signwriting style in México.

We designed a series of murals and patterns that add depth and intricacy to their restaurant space. An abundance of colourful flowers and decor complement these, creating a welcoming and refreshing experience for customers. We collaborated with Mamacita on macro decisions such as layout, customer flow and experience, as well as finer details like the colour of tile grouting (and everything in-between).
